Unfolding of the earth - springtime

The unfolding of the earth
is beautiful to behold.
Splendor leaps from the pages
of winter,
life bursting forth from an artists soul.
Surely God is creator supreme
each inch an invention
as if from a dream.
Revel in this wholesome display
there's peace to be found
in this gentle way;
the wait is worth
what comes from the earth
and the feelings of warmth
are His to portray.

The Rising - Easter

You've given, oh God, the act of your rising
through Your Son
an eternal spring
from darkness and shame
into light and release -
all with your name.
By our acts we are all driven down
forming for you a thorny crown.
Through anxious winters of life
you've sown
seeds for the spring,
Your faithfulness shown.
To save this world
it is not surprising
you'd show who you are
by the act of your rising.

All the Voices I've Ever Heard - spring

All the voices I've ever heard
have suddenly converged.
Their individuality
has taken on a theme,
to listen very closely
is to find out what they mean.
Every one holds merit,
intrinsic value as they sing
each has given their offerings
of expression- how they ring!
Turn toward us,
voice of the past
which part of what you bring
is the part that will last?
For nothing good shall pass away
as long as pleasant memories stay
and the sounds shall echo-
overlapping, clear,
resonating in our lives
to never disappear.

Spring is Here - spring

Spring is here -
the daylight dwindles
before it disappears.
A robin egg blue
paints the sky
above the browned out earth...
A hopeful hue
drawing out life
with love from above.
Let us sing with the forest
and sleep to spring peepers call
for spring wins out
over all.

The Angels Sang - spring

The angels sang in the silent pines
but it wasn't a song from here -
the setting sun shone sideways,
sending its light where none should appear.
Where is the veil that separates
 when is it drawn aside?
Love exists on both sides now -
thank you Lord Jesus
for taking us across the divide.

Peaceful Evening -soothe my soul - winter/spring

Peaceful evening
soothe my soul,
reassurance of a healing power
that we don’t have to control.
Let the birds
sing it to sleep
or send the snow to bring silence to all;
peaceful evening
soothe my soul,
as hues of blue
so faintly fall.

To Leave Your Childhood Home - winter

To leave your childhood home
that was our part of the family tree
is to give away an album of love
where I grew within its branches and leaves.
Lives lived with Christmas to mark our year,
setting up the tree
with carols spreading cheer.
Remember the days of sunshine
and long winter nights,
napping on the sofa
lit with Holiday lights?
Laughter and sorrow
were todays and tomorrows,
memories endearing,
always within my mind appearing.
To leave the childhood home
means the children have all grown.

Oak Tree, give your all - winter

My son's oak tree is practically perfect,
it’s arching arms reach to the sky –
bare bones in the winter
when leaves are gone and dry.
Yet this shows off its perfection
each branch grown as it should,
affirming life left up to God
is truly something good.
Planted back when just a boy,
a seedling brought from school,
it found its roots where it was planted
through pleasant spring and winter cruel.
Long stand this oak who shares its bounty
one acorn at a time,
it would be missed by those partaking
of it while in its prime.
So live the life that God intended,
as a testament to all descended
that young men grow
and trees stand tall
and never give up –
 til you’ve given your all.
