Valley View- summer

We have a valley view,
a balcony at the top of the tree line
overlooking hills and a valley green
with mottled sunlight splotching
through clouds casting highlights -
so pastoral
so serene.
Red barns wake in the golden glow
and fields meet forests
with a wavy ebb and flow.
A silo sits at the top of a ridge
reaching high with the bounty
this land gives;
the peaceful sky
and it's welcoming domain
will lull me to sleep,
we are one and the same.

Where once we gathered - summer

Where once we gathered
and would sit
on a summers eve in the warmth of
friendship
with a fire beneath us
and stars above
whether words or no
we were all a part of
the being
the sharing
the true embrace
that comes with just living
same time
same place
same generation
face to face
serving
then leaving
we look back upon
the moments together
before we're gone

Patron of Forest Chorus - summer

In the neighborhood of birdsong
conversation is diverse,
my woods are ringing merrily
with melodies so well rehearsed
they come out pitched so perfectly
it sounds a choir
from tree to tree.
What right have I
to pen a chorus
when a constant composition
is forthcoming from the forest?
Each day a different arrangement,
their rendition ever new,
thus I immerse myself each evening
a true patron
sensing You.
